Power Steering fluid

I just finished replacing the seal on my power steering pump reservoir (1983 300CD). All I have on hand is MB power steering fluid. Can it be safely mixed with the specified DEXRON III ATF?

Flush the system so it's mostly new fluid. You'll never be rid of the pink tint ATF leaves behind.

My 82 300sd just takes standard non Red PS Fluid not ATF. I use Valvoline or any plain Jane PS Fluid. Definetly flush and change filter inside if u have on in urs and do the Flush procedure. Not hard to do.

According to the guy at C&M Hydraulics (the MB steering pump and gearbox experts), you can mix without any ill effects.

The actual spec is antique type F
or basic clear cheap power steering fluid.
