The manual FW and the automatic FW are two different animals. You will need a manual FW if you are going to use a Manual transmission. there is no way an automatic FW will work with a clutch assembly.

I did some measuring of the 280 front drive line last friday, and it is short, think it is 13 inches. OH Wait!!! the one I measured is for a 280 with an auto trans. with the 6 cylinder eng and auto trans the trans X mount uses the last 2 holes at the rear of the tunnel.

Your drive line front section from your 240 with the auto trans will be too short to use with the manual trans, because the manual trans is shorter than the auto trans.

You will need this trans X mount.

I have 2 240D drive lines and they both measure about 25" from the front edge of the tri piece to the end at the splines. dont`t know if they are from a auto or manual 240D.

Of course it just so happens today I find somebody who offered to sell me the manual tranny the flywheel and the dirveshaft for the 240 which is all the stuff I needed, for less than I paid to pull this from the local P&P.

The yellow 79 240 in the pic is the one I want to put the manual tranny in. It has the Automatic that doesn't have a vacum line going to it. I bought this car for $250 a few months ago. It has a non rusted California body with some minor collision damage. Worst thing was the lady turned it into a hoarders car. When I towed it home it had a foot of rotting sewage in the trunk and the inside was covered in mold and filth. So it will need a whole new interior. The whoite 82 240D I have is a manual and has a very nice interior. Problem is it was a new york car in a prior life and the bottom is rotting out to dangerous proportions. I bought it for the manual tranny and the interior. Get this it has a dashboard with ZERO cracks. as in NONE. And the original flawless headliner. If it wouldn;t take thousands of hours and dollars to repair the rust I'd just fix this one up as I have all the maintenance records on it too from when it;s new. The one in the back under the tarp is my brown 81. It's in the process of having floor patches welded in and I'm putting a rebuilt manual sunroof in to replace the old rusted out one.

Quite a collection. Post up some pics of the work. Really fun to watch. I'm not too far from you I suppose, let me know if you need any help on something here or there that is too hard to handle alone. Good luck.
