1988 190E/D Dr. sd. window mtr. ????
My dr. window will not work at all, I have pwr. to the door as I pulled the panel off to check. Should I waste time with the existing mtr. or just get a new one? I don't want to tear the unit out until I have another replacement inhand. Is there any repair or something I may be missing, can I trouble shoot the motor without pulling it and how? Thanks

Loosen the 4 bolts holding the regulator with associated motor in place. Manipulate it around so you can address the motor with a good whack from a hammer. If you're getting power there as stated, some times this will jump start the electric motor.
If no, the motors are not sold seperate from the window regulator. Replacement regulator/motor is needed either new or recycled. Which door window is giving trouble driver's front or rear?

Well the mtr. and window track (regulator) is out, motor is froze in the up position. I tried giving it a whack with the hammer, did not good. As you can see in one of the pics I can not access one of the 2 bolts that hold it onto the reg. track. I don't want to force the gear and damage the gears inside the mtr. (plastic) I'd guess? Any ideas, if I could get the mtr. off and openned up it may be usable. Input please................

I have the window working now, got a used mtr. unit. I could not however take my complete non-working unit off because 2 of the bolts holding it on the regulator track are inaccessable as shown it the pics. I concluded the only way to get the unit off in one piece was to dismantle the regulator i.e. removing a rivot holding a joint together. I didn't want to go to that extreme so I seperated the mtr. from the black gear housing which is held by the screws you can't loosen. I put the working mrt. into the existing gear housing since all parts were the same. Not ideal but everything works.
