Turbos

I need to rebuild my turbo does anybody know any place and any idea what they charge to rebuild a turbo? It is a garret off a 87 300TD

You can replace just the cartridge for much less.

What do you mean replace just the cartridge? I was told my turbo needs new seals is leaking oil into the intake manifold

Yes, the prior post is correct in that in can be a DIY job, but a complete rebuild kit is around $100, but I am sure folks will jump in and point out how they can buy one for half that. Because of time, skill, et cet., I think for another $300 bucks vs. a weekend sweating over it, it seemed like an OK swap.

cartridge = The Center Assembly of the Turbo, the Bearing Houseing and all of the parts and the Turbine and Compressor Wheels all assembled.
The only thing you reuse is your Exhaust and Intake Housings.

Please update us on your success.

The Garrett on your chassis MAY have slight differences from the ones in the
Videos.BUT It's all very straight forward and almost intuitive.
