I had no Idea they made an air cleaner like that. I'ts essentially exactly what i have. I wonder what the plumbing for the oil drain tube is like, because I absolutely hate the flimsyness of the non california models'. Is there any reason to change what I have now? Does anybody know if the Spectre air filters are as useless as the K&N ones?

Thanks everyone, your support is highly appreciated! You have all helped me so much through the years, ya'll are the best!

If you attempted to check the oil without the engine running and oil came out the dipstick tube there had to be retained crankcase pressure present.

If you did so with the engine running then I would not really consider it particularily one way or another. Other than there was still a chance of too much base pressure. I would have to compare that effect with a simular model engine before I considered it signifigant.

Using "random" o-rings in a high precision environment is not a good idea. They may not even be oil/heat rated, and the fit needs to be snug/perfect. O-rings traveling through the oil system is NOT good.

Engine Off

I can't remember if it was off or not when I tried checking it (also when it spewed oil all over everything) but I am pretty sure it shouldn't spew oil like a geyser regardless of whether or not it is on. I definately could tell there was built up pressure in the valve cover as it depressurized when i first removed the kinked tube to the turbo.

I know I shouldn't have used "random" o-rings, but they are oil and heat rated, and they were snug, just not wide enough to probably make as good a seal as they should be making. I'll check to make sure they didn't get sucked in somewhere (that would explain a lot) when I get home.
