Thanks for the URL.

Now I'll have a clue as to what my daughter is replying to her friends.

Here's one to add that she uses:

g2g for Got to go.

Us GI's called this truck a "deuce and a half." They are incredibly reliable, powerful and strong. I drove one a good bit pulling a heavy radar unit.

On the Autobahns of Germany long about 1970, we could outclimb a German tractor trailer rig even if we were loaded and they were not. They would shake their fist at us as we passed them while climbing a long hill. The German truck drivers were enormously envious.

Don't expect them to score high for comfort or quietness though.

Have a great day,

And I still want to know who makes the "Deuce & a Half"?

They would be unavailable up here in the land of the 62 cent dollar, though. The Canadian military has some homegrown thing called a Coyote, that has been getting a lot of press lately now that we have been using them in Afghanistan.
If one of you guys were to buy a Deuce and a Half, what would it cost to buy? I agree that it would be an incredible fun toy, and wish they were available here- I can't imagine a better Boonie-Basher, and they appear to get nearly triple the fuel mileage of a UniMog.
With a Deuce & a Half, there would probably be no such thing as a fishin' hole that was "inaccessable by vehicle".

GMC made the Deuce and a Half.

At the Reserve center where I drill we still have one in use. It has no power anything. Interesting engine though. Straight 6 Diesel.

EDIT: I was wrong on who made the Deuce and a Half, GMC, not Dodge.

Cummins?
(edit: jeez, you are fast, Captain - If it is a GM, then is it a GM engine...the same diesel that Hummer uses?)

LOL

no.... the Diesel in the Hummers are the GM 6.5L V8 Turbo Diesel that they were putting in their regular trucks until recently.

What they put in the Deuce and a half is a straight 6. That's about all I know.
