Replacing Neutral Safety switch,,,?
Hi,
seeing if replacing the neutral safety switch is an easy job? or if there are any threads you know if showing it done? I searched a bit but didnt find threads about actually swapping it, just that it is a usual suspect ! mine is for sure not working, i chopped into the harness coming from the dash before it goes thru the floorboard and just put a switch on the wires to have a temp solution, but that means i have no reverse lights,, i was gonna just put in another switch on the reverse light wires and try to remember to flick it on when reversing in parking garages, etc when having the lights it critical.... but... then while i was putting an order together here on pelicanparts i saw they have a generic switch for only $10.. which i thought it was an $85 part, so now im wondering if i just actually fix it, and save myself the spaceship-esque dashboard of switches... but, i dont have a lift and dont really like working on a car on jacks on the street (dont have a private driveway.. ) can this be done by just crawling under there? i was able to crawl under and access the harness to get it off the switch to test start, etc.

Just did mine, easy as pie - NSS was 28.00 and change I believe. You need to use a piece of old vac line to center the switch correctly in the little port provided for doing so and then when centered, tighten the little nuts (2) to lock in. I cannot remember now if the switch plugs locks in the upright or down position but you need to unlock lock in order to pull harness plug from NSS - good luck! Mine btw was wonky along with an aging ignition switch which made for a tricky diagnosis.
