GP reamer dimensions

.

basicaly I'm gonna steal another Diesel911's hack
so I would like to know exact dimensions of the reamer (pic a & b)

from forum readings I've learn that reamer has to be 1-2mm higher than
GP itself....true?

GP season over here

thanks
ChO

Some of that info is in other Threads.
The stock Reamer/Bit is 7mm
For the rest you can simply pull one of your Glow Plugs and measure it remembering that only about 1/4" of the Glow Plug Heater Element sticks into the Prechamber.
So the Reamer/Bit can be shorter than the Heater Element but should not stick beyond the Length of the Heater Elemen.

The rest are my trade secrets

It is easiest to do like Mercedes re-source did and just use an old Glow Plug Body to mount the Reamer Bit into. Otherwise you need a Lathe or some sort of Drill Guide to drill down the center of a Bolt as I do.

Enjoy

A year or so from now please repot back on the NKGs as I have not read anything about them.

I had used Champion Glow Plugs in My Volvo Diesel with no short longivity issues but I had rebuilt the Short Block, the Prechamber is different and it just does not carbon up like the Mercedes does.

I have a set of NGK Glow Plugs for the Volvo if I ever need them.

until then,I can verify that so many guys over here use those
(spark or glow ) and most of them do report the quality is even
better than Bosch,..hence the warranty 24 months

cheers

Not mercedes, but my 82 Datsun PU with the SD22 Diesel engine. It came with NGK GP`s and I have used them for the past 31 yrs in the same engine. I have replaced them a few times, but they are long lived.

They won`t fit in a MB, but sure look similar in design to a Bosch plug.

Don`t remember the last time I changed them, but way over 10 yrs ago.
