87 300TD how do I flush SLS?
Hey All,
Changing out fuel injectors next weekend and wanted to flush the SLS system. Right now it's brown I assume from oil mixing in. Rear height is good and doesn't lift on start up. For the life of me though I can't figure out how to flush the system other than siphoning out fluid out of the reservoir. There has to be a drain plug somewhere, right? Thanks for the help. |
Put the return line into a container, run the system while adding fresh fluid to the reservoir until the fluid runs clear.
|
What's the capacity of the system, approximately?
|
For the 87 300td, manual says 2.1qt for the capacity.

Thanks much Kerry, pulled the hard line return off the top of the reservoir and fluid was being pushed out, so at least the pump seems to be working. Going to try to flush with the ISO 46 tractor hydraulic that folks seem to say is identical to the Febi stuff.

Will running the pump alone flush the entire system? Is there a way to flush what's in the struts?

Put a hefty wench on and off the back bumper to get the valve to open and fluid flowing to and from the accumulators and struts.

it's been stated that the ISO46 is not the same, it will work, but the shell aero is a better match.
