Sanden A/C compressor installation in a 123/617

For sale and installation instruction thread:
617 Sanden style A/C Compressor Mounting Kit For Sale + Installation Instructions
I installed my bracket kit in a 123 yesterday (sorry for the dark photos, I will try to get better ones):

I also installed a parallel flow condenser:

I had two new hoses made (condenser to drier, condenser to compressor), and one adapter fitting (from the factory suction hose to the compressor):

I chose to remove the factory hose assembly that goes under the engine, and run the new hose over the top of the engine (top of condenser to high side of compressor).

Box of old parts:

No clearance issues etc? My 85 needs new ac. It had no belt on it when I bought it, and when you hand turn the clutch, you can feel it sticking. I think I finally have the car I want to keep and I don't want to have to keep replacing the compressors, I find the stock ones to be crappy at best. Being in GA, A/C is a requirement, especially with 3 young kids. What I would like someone to do, it to simplify the install buy making a final list of everything that was needed for a w123 install and where that that stuff was obtained. On another note, do you think that a conversion like this would help or hurt a cars value? Personally, I think it would increase it, but there are a lot of purists.

If there are any purists, they are probably driving their MB's around without working A/C.

I was thinking about making up some hoses, but I don't have a kit yet.

I was thinking the same thing, and offering the hose assemblies as an upgrade.

Would be a great option. While I can tinker, there are still a lot of things I cant do. Having this in a kit form would make it a LOT more attractive. (not that it isn't already).

If you make hose kits, keep me in mind. I will throw more money at you, promise. (if it is at a reasonable cost)

Tell ya I'm no purist but I am driving around 1 year now in FL with a blown R4. Rich send me a PM if you will, after looking into it, I feel it would be foolish to just bolt in another R4.

240 compressor install- Gen 2 bracket

I finally got around to installing the first gen 2 bracket on my 240. My photobucket is not working right now, so I will post photos when it gets fixed. It seems that the 240 has more room than a 617 for the compressor on the height, so the stock top port rear head will work fine. No need for the rear port head. If the photo was here, you would see that there is plenty of room for adjusting the belt tension, and even at maximum, the compressor does not touch the frame. A belt (15385) will be provided in the kit for use on all 617's, but a shorter belt will be needed for 240D (616) installations (size will be provided). I will let you all know how it all works when I get the hoses made, and the system charged. For now, I know it will fit and I will start welding them up. I will then get all the parts cad plated, and then the kits will be ready to sell....Rich

Edit: I just realized that this is the 617 installation thread. I will post this info on the other thread.
