vents

If you are talking about the black plastic grilles between the windshield and the hood, they are held on by 8 (4 each side) plastic pressure clips. These are square clips and in the very centre of each clip is a plastic insert. The insert is difficult to see due to its natural camo colouring. Take an awl and push down on the plastic insert. It will be pushed down into the channel that the black plastic grilles are covering and will promptly make its escape never to be seen again. Once the insert has been lost you will find that the square pressure connectors can be removed and the grille pried up.

Vent removal

Thanks guys Scape_goat and Schooner are talking about the ones I'm interested in,but thanks for posting a reply anyway Moraine.
Where can I get the plastic inserts to replace the lost ones or are they just cosmetic. In other words if the inserts get lost how do I keep the grills secured to the bodywork? Bear

reuse old ones

when you push them through, they fall into the air intake housing...just pick them up and re-use them. If not, you can buy extras at mail order houses ...fastlane, Parts shop, Performance, etc. Once you take it appart, it will become immediately evident how they function....very simple.

Hi guys,

I'm removing and replacing the vents on my 240D. Does anyone know if these

Mercedes-Push-Type-Clips-124-990-07-92

will fit the W123?

I have tried the PeachParts Fastlane search, but I just can't seem to find the right clips for a W123. Anyone have a link?

Thanks,

PE

I don't think so, if that's an MB part number, it fits many vehicles, but not a 123.

The part number you need is 123 990 04 92.

I have punched out quite a few at the PNP`s. the first 3 from the out side edge to the center are usually laying there to retrieve. It is the one closest to the center that is sometimes a bugger to find, or not at all. It dropps down into the plastic drain. Not sure, but think it might drop down into the large rubber drain hose on the firewall.

Put it on the PNP do do list next time in the yards for back ups.
