I don't know what diameter and thread pitch but they're the same as the 602/3.

IIRC they are the same thread/size as the 617 engine too.

I was about to hang a new/used 617 on a nifty engine stand today but reconsidered when I looked at the alum flange, (the bell housing?) and considered the weight and the leverage involved. I read elsewhere about using the bolt holes for the flywheel instead.

there should be no problem mounting to the plate, but you could always remove the plate and bolt directly to the block if you feel more comfortable that way.

I had the same engine mounted by the plate to another engine stand briefly a couple years back (?!) with no apparent problems. It just looks odd, a couple of inches of alum supporting that heavy engine sticking way out front.

So, what, you take off the flywheel and the bolts that mount the plate are beneath it?

NEin,NEIn,NEIN!

I've the "Flywheel Lock" in position. From underneath.
I'm gonna use the 8 engine housing (Female Threaded) orifices to attach the
"Motor Stand".

OK, now I've gone and got obsessive (gone and got?!). I have a nifty engine stand with two outriggers angling out and I observed that they are in the right place to place a couple of supports beneath the motor mounts, so that's what I did. Feels pretty stable. Gives more peace of mind.

That's regular old scrap pipe, 3/4 inch. The motor mounts are in bad shape, I'd get new ones anyway, so the pipe fits over the allen bolt and bears on the rubber. That's 3/4 ply on the bottom - I didn't want to make any permanent mods to my stand so I just clamped them on hard, the engine weight has driven them into the plywood enough to grip pretty good.

While I'm in show and tell mode, here's an attachment I made for my cherry-picker so I could rotate the engine freely. 1/2 inch eyebolt with a cutaway and some leftover steel from an earthquake hold-down strap.

I like the Galvanized solution.

gsxr has pictures of 2X4 ish supports on his OM603 ,also supporting the M.M.s

[I want to be able to rotate the engine in a Vertical Plane.
Like a Rotisserie.]

My father built a cherry picker in the 70's with an axle bearing for the hook... I saved it for my cherry picker... I've not installed it yet, but I plan to when I start pulling engines again...

I used a bottle jack with a 4x6 piece of wood under the front of the sump. This minimizes the wobbling that goes on with such a long lump of mass hanging off of that sketchy Chinese steel.
