morning of wrenching

Started as little booster diagnosis with vacuum tester...then progressed into cleaning up the rotted vacuum lines to the tune of the "Minimalistic Approach"...than emission stuff got recycled...than ALDA meesteriiously disappeared as well

OMG...different car...can you say POWAA! (stolen from "Simple=Better)

I kept an eye on the boost, didnt let it go over 10 psi and man oh man this thing now FLIES!

Thanks to vtech for some insight! This board rocks!

removed all of that, than I simplified it all...on a shoe-string budget. Spent 4 hrs today filing down the sewer pipe so it would fit. I may paint it black down the road so it doesnt look so obviously redneck-engineered

$16 vacuum/pressure gauge from Harbor Freight. Works amazingly well. Had to remove the little pin that stops the needle at 10 psi, since boost did peaked to ~15 or so during WOT upshifts.

One that will save you about a thousand bucks in UFO's when dirt or oil gets in the lines... Amazing what a $3 fuel filter can save you from.

As far as filtration goes, here is what I have setup http://www.superturbodiesel.com/std/thread-1235-post-33905.html#pid33905

Much has changed from stock and since I took that picture, just about everything has changed. However the airfilter is still doing an awesome job. Thanks to the soundwall its mostly a true cold air intake.

ps- my middle daughters my little pony is named rarity....

Its just such a discrepancy that my car had so many items neglected all over it, and someone went through trouble to install that filter...on a emission equipment It just didnt make any sense.

The details are well detailed in many places. 190e parts car, rear trans x member, a driveshaft shop and an open weekend are just about all you need. I was hardly the first to swap.

Sounds like a young lady who makes her money on the pole. Nothing wrong with that either, I support single moms.

A 3" dia piece of exhaust pipe cut to length fits nicely instead of your plastic pipe. No filing down to size. On one end of the pipe I actually wrapped one layer of 1/16" cork gasket strip around it, glued to the pipe to better fit with the mating air tubing. I forget which end. Still unpainted. Looks good silver and so far after a couple years is showing no rust must have enough of an oil film on it.

I still remember the feeling and probably had ear to ear grin on my face when I backed out of the garage first time after removing ALDA, and adjusting the timing which was very delayed... the tires grabbed the gravel and spit it everywhere as I touched the pedal... Never had experienced that kind of power at low RPM on the car before!
