El 300 Ez-Dee

Checked out the local PNP today and I saw this gem. Looks like it was customized, essay.

I am pretty sure the horn under the hood plays coocooracha! I was pretty shocked at some of the half-assed modifications that were done to this car. The good news is the axillary vacuum pumps works and I got the connector, etc for my car. This is the second W126 that I have seen in this yard that had a spoiler installed. I'm not sure what the the print on the rear glass says but something like Copala? Maybe it is a gang thing.

Oh, it also had a V8 Magnum badge on the fender and some of those glue-on oval vent thingies on both fenders. Looked silly. It also had a 500KM badge in the front that someone used some rusty screws to fasten it to the grille with.

Wow.....there are no words.

Gotta say, the hack job on the injection return hoses is pretty impressive.

Sigh.

Moderator! Moderator! There has to be some moral code broken with the posting of these pictures!

I'm probably going to need three or four days off from work now until my sprained thumbs heal. I injured them when I jammed them into my eyeball sockets in an attempt to block out those images.

wow. "Pablo Escobar Wannabee Edition"

If those mods weren't so half-@$$ed, that would look good. But with a Jag badge, caulk on the central console, painted speaker grill... not so much.

Well, at least grab the window switches, they look new.

I didn`t notice as your pictures are so close, did it have the Dingle Balls across the windshield and the little doggy with the Wobble Head?

A real Tijuana special for sure.

No, no dingle berries on this one. I would have been sure to take pictures of that! It may have had the bobble head chihuahua but the owner probably took it for his replacement car.

There are things I would consider doing to modify my car but nothing this extreme and surely not as poorly executed. The guy couldn't tell the difference between a gas model gauge cluster and a Diesel cluster so he had no business messing with the car in the first place. A Jaguar logo in a 300SD is a mark of shame not only on the car but on the owner as well. Jags are fancy cars with bells and whistles but in my experience, which is limited, they do not compare to a Mercedes Diesel on a reliability standpoint.

The return line hack was definitely notable enough to take a picture of. The window switches are not new but seemed OK. The reason I have not yet grabbed them is because I do not believe a 1983 300SD had two position memory seating. I'm pretty sure mine never did unless the switches were downgraded by a PO. I'm not sure they would work in my car but I do need new seat switches.

Did you grab:
* the vacuum shutoff from the injection pump?
* the vacuum control valve (white plastic) top rear of the injection pump? Unobtainium MB Diesel parts List

I suggest you get:
# the center console window switches.
# the CCU push button control unit.
# the hazard switch.
# A/C Temperature Sensor ETR Switch, just above and to the right of the accelerator pedal.
