I do like Maroon and it was a period correct color, I believe.

My truck was painted black and there are some patches of the original paint that could actually be buffed up and look pretty good.

The truck is fairly large so I want a darker color that will not make it look larger or a two tone if that will make it look smaller or at least lower the bluff front edge of the hood.

On the Willys - whoever wrote the Ebay entry doesn't know his a$$ from 3rd. base. HOW exactly is a non-turbo going to yield higher fuel economy? And why does the Diesel (mentioned later in the ad) use gasoline as cited in the Ebay spec area? And no, it's NOT a Willy's - its a Willys. Sad, really.

It might be a fun little truck but not at the asking price.

looks pretty nice. I want to have an overhead panel like that.

Agreed with with other nitpicks, but his engine appears to be a turbo and I see no mention of this affecting fuel economy negatively.

This is where I should complain about keeping on the subject, but WTH I never do!;)

Down lower in the ad there's a blurb by (I assume) the selling dealer. It states that the engine is non-turbo so it will yield higher fuel economy - WHAT? I didn't scour the pics closely enough to see if a turbo was fitted or not.

EDIT: I went back and reread the ad. Boy is my face red! It's the intercooler that was deleted for better FE. Again, WHAT!!??

This is not a criticism of the actual truck, which looks like a pretty cool piece. It's just worrisome that whoever is doing the selling doesn't seem to know the product.

And yes, we should give Tom back his thread now.

So either way, the dealer is not the brightest bulb.

Take it away, Tom! I'll be posting a W123 seat thread in a few hours that you have permission to take off-topic :P.

It is giving the all too typical ebay milage.

I found it interesting that this being a light vehicle .The exaust gas temperatures seemed too high in fifth gear they claim. With this engine if the add is somewhat truthfull. Down around 1600-1700 at seventy miles per hour would require one tall overdrive gear in that manual transmission.

I'm leaning toward leaving off the running boards.

You might have an issue with debris coming off of the front tires and whacking away on the paint on the front portions of the rear fenders.

Agreed. Also, running boards on this style vehicle adds to it's charm. I think it would take away from the overall look of the vehicle by not having running boards. Besides, you don't want to mess up your new paint!!

if you do this, how are you going to hang on the door frame and fire your tommy gun one handed? You need the running boards for a place to stand.

I suppose you could fire from the bed, but it wouldn't be traditional
