Link to tailgate pic. That looks nice Dan! I have a tristar I could use but I think if I do I'll use a smaller one and perhaps put a Studebaker emblem alongside it.

I don't know how big this is but a genuine article will probably double your project's cost since it's off a 540K -

I found it looking for vintage MB Diesel emblems like on the truck in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Cool! I'd take one of those.;)

How about this grill emblem made into a mold and pressed into the tailgate for that oh so subtle look?

That's a hideous snout made worse by the schizophrenic BMW-Citroen grill! It has that current Ford Transit "Oh, you need somewhere to put an engine" afterthought look.

I'll try that though I really have no clue what you're talking about (computer dunce here).

Trying to repost my pic.......

Nope, won't let me. Clearly there's something I don't know here.

THANKS! I had zero luck posting this (see following comments). That is the trunk badge from the 300SD. It uses an oval hole (sorta) in the middle and I put a dab of glue at 3 points around the circle to keep it from rotating.

Take the URL or link from an image and frame it between [img] [/img] tags to diply the image rather than the URL.

Today I got my third option on outside mirrors.

First option is on the car now. Very elegant simple mirrors with clamps to the hinge and a simple bar up to the round 3" diameter mirror...no convex lense on the right. They don't work very well for me. They swivel too easily and don't provide much information.

I also bought a second set of rectangular which clamped on the door, but when they came in they didn't work for me as the clamps interfered with closing the door and if I put it where you could clamp it on it gave a lovely view of the ground. i returned them and got a refund.

Today I receieved my third pair. They are offered for Jeep cjs.

These are simple black plastic (blick) but they look like they'll work well and are bigger than most of the car type mirrors and the right one has a convex lense. Unfortunately I'll have to drill holes in my new paint. I think I'll paint them body color if the plastic will take the paint.

The power steering pump groans when I turn the wheels and does not seem to provide enough assist to the ford rack. Also the steering does not return itself at all. Feels like the ball joints are glued instead of lubed. Any chance we reversed the hoses? What about the mercedes power steering pumps...all the same or do some put out more volume for the heavier cars?

charliebob 02-25-2017 12:52 AM

Volume and pressure of the Mercedes PS pump should be fine--at least it works fine with the Omni rack I am using.

I'm not familiar with all of the fatman ifs kits, and don't know what you have. Most kits are front steer based on the ford design, but a rear steer works best with the front sump OM617.

If you have a front steer rack--ford--the pressure line is the small port. Most of the rear steer kits use a Dodge Omni rack, for which the port sizes are backwards to the ford. As I recall, the pressure line on the MB pump is the smaller line toward the rear.

t walgamuth 02-25-2017 06:33 AM

Thanks Charliebob. It is the front steer. What would be the result if the lines were reversed please?

charliebob 02-25-2017 06:55 AM

Well, I haven't experienced reverse lines, but I would guess that the steering could do crazy things. Your problem may be air in the lines. Have you tried turning the steering from lock to lock several times to get the air out?

t walgamuth 02-25-2017 11:37 AM

I think so but I will try again. I'll also check level in res. Wonder if they might have put in the wrong fluid when they assembled the car?
