If it's blowing smoke, the injectors are probably pissing out fuel rather than spraying it out. Poor fuel atomization really kills efficiency. I would find an injection shop that can test and rebuild the injectors if needed.

A pop test will reveal the quality of the injection spray.

You can also try a "diesel purge" to see if things clear up. That and some full power, extended up hill runs. You really need to move a lot of fuel to clean up the injectors.

Most E300's I've seen has had significant fuel leaks. Take a very close look at plastic lines and o-rings. Might want to take off the crossover pipe and plastic cover and run it to verify the integrity of the return lines.

Oh right, no crossover pipe on the turbo. That thing is a PITA.

I did Diesel Purge (Lubro Moly) when I got the car, maybe I need to do it again? or use different product?

My first thought was fuel leak, I took it apart last week.
I didn't see ANY fuel leak, around IP, and lines.
No bubbles in clear lines. Intake manifold wasn't that bad, but I cleaned it.
I'm gonna check the tank strainer this weekend.
here are some pictures

The rust on the outside should not be a problem. What you need to see is the spray pattern.

You can certainly get the referenced part (nozzle). It will come with a pintle (top) too. The problem is that you're opening a can of worms here if you don't have a pop tool and a bunch of shims (little round washer). OM606/605/604 shims in my experience are hard to come by.

You also can't just buy what you need, you need a complete set to "tune" the pressure of each injector.

It may start smoking after the glow plugs go out until it warms up fully.

When the injectors were pop tested, what did the spray pattern look like?

Did you put new heat shields under the injectors when you re-installed them?
