Need some advice on overhauling vacuum system in my SDL
My '87 SDL needs some work under the hood. I've been dealing with some missing rubber connectors on some of the hoses. Yesterday when I tried to reconnect one of them it broke into little pieces - they are all very brittle. I plan on replacing all of them but need a little guidance on some of the options. First of all, let me state that the car has had the ALDA removed by the PO, but the Blue Flying Saucer is still there - so I'm wondering if I should leave this Blue thing alone or pull it out as part of the overhaul of the vacuum system?!
Part of me wants to remove the Blue Saucer (I've read some of the posts that advocate it) but another part of me don't wanna mess with it. I do have some shifting issues from time to time that may be vacuum related - the transmission shift "tuning" is my next project. Just working up the courage to do that - little apprehensive about it but I know it's needed. So I could use two things: 1) The right vacuum diagram for my year/model (1987 300SDL) 2) Advice on removing or leaving the Blue Saucer in place 3) Where to start checking all the vacuum lines?! From the Vacuum pump there is the main line to the brake booster (little nipple on there) - is this the place to start checking? Thx in advance - |
Found the diagram... any advice on this?
