Getting harder to get out of my 190d

Afternoon,

I'm getting up in the years and I've noticed lately that getting out of my 1984 190d is getting harder. The 190d is pretty close to the ground. I know that a 240d is lots higher than my 190d. I've been looking around on the internet trying to get an idea of the cost of a 1980-1983 240d. It looks like the cars that look in real good shape are around $8,000. Does anyone know if this will be the area of cost I will be looking at? If I get a 240d I'll just give old Sally to my fourteen year old son. He won't have any trouble getting out of it. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Yeah getting old sucks, but it isn`t for sissies. hang in there and be tough. I have 69 comeing around the corner....soon.

When they stick on Classic, rare, million mile, run forever etc...., the price seems to go with it. then the WVO crowd might be making the price climb some, and the number of these old Diesels is thinning down.

here are a few from our area.
1983 Mercedes-Benz 240 sedan 4-Cyl.Diesel 4sp. Trade Dual Sport bike dealer, manual trans $2850

1980 Mercedes-Benz 240D Diesel Beige, 4 Door, Great Shape dealer, automatic $4850

1982 Mercedes Benz 240D for sale automatic $2200

1983 Merceds Benz 240D Diesel - 4sp manual trans. dealer, manual $3000

1980 240D Merceds $1200

1980 240D Merceds automatic, $3450

speaking of rare, here is a 84 240D

1984 mercedes 240d (diesel) automatic, $2000

1982 Mercedes Benz 240D manual, $5000

1981 240D Mercedes Benz manual $1200

this will give you a good idea what is out here. the dealers will always jack up the price, and some private parties also. Idealy you want to go see the car in person than taking someone`s word the car is rust free, low milage etc...

the average of all these 9 is $2861

If I was in the buying mood for a 240D I would totally fly out to cali and nab one of those. The Manilla Beige 4 speed wants to come home with me.
