gasoline engine with unfortunate cis injection, but wow that looks fun! :D

Something about that does not seem, what is the word I'm looking for?....

SAFE?

Highway speeds, a lap belt, no crumple zones or safety anything. There is a reason we have shoulder harnesses and collapsing steering columns etc. Someday he is going to eat that steering wheel.

Oh and I hope he feels comfy with his "roll cage" - I'm not an engineer, but me thinks this is not sturdy enough for the weights and impacts.

Fun as all get out I bet :)

O lve the part where the guy with the camera goes "OWWWWWW!!" when he gets rocks kicked at him lol.

That's my kind of tractor!

Safe? who needs safe? This is redneck stuff, there is no such thing as safe. Just beer and balls! If you die in a tractor going 70MPH, that is just one more story cousin Bubba can tell the family for the next 50 years. Your legacy will live on!

It was about 10 years ago at Portland International Raceway that I learned that one should never race a guy dressed in overalls who has a chain holding his hood on. For reasons just like we see here.
It's outstanding!

Myself and fellow forum member Shotwell took our cars to PIR on open drags that night. There were a bunch of vipers, an avgas propelled VW bug, an old W123 (I think), a real Cobra Torino, a Chevy Vega and a late 60's Dodge pickup among others

The Dodge pickup was the one that had a chain holding the hood down onto a bumper made from an 8x8 piece of wood. We asked if we could see the engine but the owner said he'd have to go back through the safety check if he opened it. The truck had no bed but had bed sides and a very small tank of gas bolted down onto to the frame rails. The thing had been lightened up so much but looked like such a piece of junk that no one though it would do well. The very wide racing slicks should have said differently. This guy was doing pulls down the quarter-mile well under 10 seconds and he repeatedly blew the doors off the brand new Viper owners who thought their V10 engines could best his very well massaged 440.

Another guy was driving a total POS green vega that had the rear wheel wells radiused and tubbed with parts of 55gallon drums in order to fit a pair of very wide racing slicks. He must have had to use a big shoehorn to stick the 406 between the struts in that car. I forget if he even had wheelwells anymore. The cam was so aggressive that the engine was rocking the car side to side while he waited to hit the quarter-mile. When he finished his run, he came back around and said that it "was a little bit slow" that time, possibly due to it being a bit cold outside... After pulling a few thousandths under 7 seconds.

I was talking with Shotwell the other day about taking our diesel MBs to PIR when the open drags open this coming season. He's got a 74 220D manual and I've got the 78 300D NA automatic. We're gonna do it and see if we can get either of the cars under 20 seconds. Toward the season opening we want to get a bunch of Mercedes diesel owners together and make it an impromptu meet up. We can run ourselves different categories. Diesel, WVO, bio-diesel, turbos, NA engines, manual and auto trannies.

Now that is the first '80s Volvo I've ever liked the look of.

I'm amazed the standard tractor tyres and wheels can take that kind of abuse. I've recently seen the central hub section of a tractor wheel shear right off the rim section - OK it was a FIAT and not a Volvo but still...

where did you get a mahindra from? is it a tractor? i remember reading somewhere that mahindra was going to sell a pickup truck here with a 4-cyl diesel. i'd have bought one in an instant. too bad that seems have not materialized.

why oh why can't we buy a small pickup (like ford ranger sized) with a 4-cyl diesel here in the usa? it's not such an unusual request.

Silber Adler 11-27-2012 01:44 PM

I bought mine used. It is a 35 hp, 3cylinder, 4200 pound, 4wd machine. I use it for utility use. Mine is made in Korea not India. The Mahindra loader is made in Kansas. It was 3x more expensive than my Benz. Check them out on the web.

Would I purchase a Mahindra road vehicle?...in a heartbeat.
