how long can diesel be stored in tank?
 

I was curiuos how long you could store a car and still burn the diesel in the tank. I recently purchased a diesel that had not ran in 5 years. when i first started it i ran it on diesel out of a gallon jug. but after I got it running I poured 5 gallons of new diesel in the tank with the 1/4 tank that was in it. I haven't been able to drive it much yet but recently it started smoking pretty heavy and the smoke has a diesel odor. Just wondering what experiences yall have had with burning old diesel?
