E300TD W210 Air bleeding after injector fuel line hose replacement

First, thanks for all the previous posts and help in changing fuel line hoses around the injector pump. I don’t think I could have done the hose replacement without taking the intake manifold off. I tried cranking the car multiple times with a jumper car to keep the battery up with no success.

Finally I attached a suction pump to the return line to the tank fitting. This is the black hose at the number 8 mark on the fuelflow.jpg image. I turned the key on to open the SOV and sucked about a pint of diesel fuel thru the system. After reattaching the black rubber hose the car started on the next attempt. Has anyone else tried this?

TMAllison has the fuelflow.jpg diagram in this thread:

I've not tried that method.

Silly me I filled the lines with diesel as I put them on. Stick an end in diesel apply slight vacuum, put thumb over end and install. Worked for me, don't recall much if any cranking.
