1975 GP Timer and GP Relay Locations?

I believe that the GP timer is under the steering column on my 1975 w115 30d, where is the relay located? If still hooked up this might be creating my issues for my manual GP set up -anyone know? Thanks!

Same place I believe.

hmmm . . . any idea what they look like? pic of timer and relay? Part numbers? Anyone?

Should be obvious once you drop the kick panel.

Like I said when you first posted, your timer should not even be in the new system, usually when one goes to the "push button" its because the timer is bad. Why are you still using it?

The description of the wiring in the other thread seems to indicate that the timer isn't in the glowplug system, although it's unclear to me how or if it was disconnected when the manual system was installed.

Yah, I dont understand why the timer still seems too be in the system, its a 115, which I know little about but I don't think thats an issue. He says the problems "intermittent". I'm guessing its the timer which should have been deleted.

warmblood, why did you go to the push button in the first place??

I'm guessing it's because he went with the pencil plugs and they won't work with a 115 relay so instead of putting in a new relay, he just installed the push button. I think that's a good idea. But I think unless he unplugged the existing relay/timer it would still be operational with the key even if the wire going to the glowplugs is disconnected.

Not, it is disconnected but want to make sure that relay is disconnected too and not sure which is which as I sort out this problem -as I understand it, I have a GP timer which I believe I have disconnected (steering column switch) and a GP relay somewhere . . . thanks

Wanted to manual glow and avoid replacing expensive (and hard to find) timer switches - timer I hope is unplugged unless that is actually the GP relay at steering column

Thats what I am thinking - if I understand correctly, the timer is at steering column but there is also a GP relay somewhere else on a w115 car?

I'm under the impression that the timer and the relay are in the same unit. They certainly are in later models.

Maybe we are dealing with a W115 thing here. In my early 123 GP converted system, the jumper wires merge and go to a 80 amp strip fuse (was 50) on the fire wall then to the solenoid, There was no separate relay just the timer under the dash which is now out of the loop completely.

If there's no relay does the heavy load pass thru the ignition wiring?

Thats what I thought too but when you hear stories of gorilla knobs and oil filters under those cars, you never know:)

I think at this point I would try a new 15 amp (horn) push button switch from Napa, then another solenoid.
