where o where is my banjo bolt

I have a 1986 300 SDL, its been idling a bit rough lately and sometime stalls at a stop. So far I have changed air & fuel filters, no change. I have read that the boost banjo bolt? needs to be cleaned but I have been unable to find any pics for this model & year. Anyone help me out with photo of where its at.

You'll have to search far and wide to find a banjo bolt on a 603...........so far, in fact, that you'll need to find the five cylinder to see it.

thanks Brian for the info, I have seen so many posts of MBs that have it I thought they all had one? Any suggestions as to what to look into as far as the rough idle.

Rough idle is rare on the 603 unless one of the injectors has a poor spray pattern or is clogged............or compression is very low in one cylinder.

With the engine running, crack the injector line nuts individually............one at a time...........so that cylinder won't fire. The engine should get noticeably rougher. You're looking for the exact same change in behavior on each of the six. My guess is that one of them won't drop the idle speed much and the roughness will not change. This is your culprit cylinder.

At that point, you've got several options:

1) Swap injectors between that cylinder and another cylinder and see if the issue transfers to the second cylinder. If it does, the problem is with that injector.

2) Do a compression test on the culprit cylinder.

What's the fuel economy (average over several tanks)?
