I doubt we will ever see it here in the US, the reported MPG is to high..

rated at 25-32mpg automatic... gee, my 85 does that, weighs more, also seats 7, cheaper to fix, cheaper to insure, and I can buy 15-20 of them for the same price....

Apparently, it is coming...

Hmm

25-32mpg automatic would IMO require using a 1970's - 1980's power train gear ratios.

I suspect the mpg is a low guess to cover later test data.

61.4mpg is what I was reading.

As to it ever arriving in the US ???
At this point my disgust - negative belief:

It is usually hinted or outrightly stated by the various japanese diesel producers that their cars will surface in the north american market. All of them it seems in recent years have for whatever reason always renaged. We as consumers are not even sure of why this game is played. Or at least I do not know why.

Skippy 11-22-2012 07:41 PM

I'll believe it when I hear one clattering next to me at a light.

ngarover 11-22-2012 09:02 PM

Just repeating what I see on their own site about the engine....

Mazda SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY

Fuel Efficiency
26/35 mpg (Manual transmission, FWD)*

26/32 mpg (Automatic transmission, FWD)*

25/31 mpg (Automatic transmission, AWD)*

Edit,... oh wait, that's the G version (gas)

BUT, if you want a good one right now..... http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2012/05/84-mpg-couple-break-mileage-record-with-passat-tdi.html

And I watch these being built everyday right here in Chattanooga :)

This.

If MB ever brings the Diesel C-Class here I'm buying one though.

From posts on forums, it appears that this engine has problems with adding diesel fuel to the engine oil. Wonder what's causing that?

DieselPaul 11-24-2012 09:31 PM

That 61.4mpg is imperial gallons I think. Still great MPG but not quite 62.
