More and more of this has become clear, I never knew about "round" euros other than the round euro replacements for the crappy seal beams we were given here in the US. Thanks for posting the pics

I'm curious about Govert's post on earlier W123's having non-halogen lights.

Here are the round Euros w/ US spec bumpers for comparison

Two brands were used: Hella or Bosch. So Euro headlights are:
- round or square
- with or without vacuum adjustment
- Bosch or Hella
Parts are not interchangeable.

There might be some very early models without halogen lights, but I'm not sure.

The city or parking lights were always in the headlight itself.

Front lights on French cars had to be yellow at the time. For the main headlights that was achieved with yellow light bulbs, but those were probably not available for the fogs, so a yellow reflector was used; these were only used on cars that were delivered to France.

And if you cannot decide, you can always mix:

This has been a great headlight lesson, One step beyond just tossing out the seal beams for headlights that really light up the road. I like the looks of the "square" (rectangle) best but the round look good too,

The first Dutch sales brochures (from late 1975) mention halogen lights as optional extra for all the models except for the 280 and 280E.

The sales brochure of 1979 mentions halogen as standard, so the non-halogen lights must have been dropped somewhere inbetween, I'm guessing earlier rather than later.

Update:
Option 618 halogen front lights is in the price list of january 1976:

But no longer there in the next price list of February 1977:

In case anybody is wondering how much adjustment there is on the Euro lights equipped with vacuum adjustment capability, here's a short video I made. Please ignore the sound (turn it off ), I forgot to turn off the radio...

Are your headlights Bosch or Hella?

Happen to have a part number?

Thank you so very much!

P.S. Interesting choice of music.
