Window Regulator Blues
Does anybody happen to know the part# for just the metal and rubber sill the window sits in that attaches it to the regulator? My 81 all four are totally rusted out. Manual regulators though are in superb condition! You don;t have to buy the whole regulator do you? I dug through EPC and could not find a part #for this individual part.

I happened to have a set of doors off a 123 and was able to swap a good one in. Maybe that is your best bet - look for a parts car without rust that may have a good unit. Otherwise, it could be that you have to buy the window with the channel attached? http://home.cogeco.ca/~mbz/300D/channel2.jpg http://home.cogeco.ca/~mbz/300D/channel3.jpg http://home.cogeco.ca/~mbz/300D/channel1.jpg |
Yeah all of mine were in the same condition as yours. I had to replace all 4 doors as the rust was so bad but I don;t have the rest of the door parts. I'll hit the yard and see but I think the 300D at the yard has electric windows. maybe the channels are the same!?

The front on mine are rusted also. Now that I know they can't be bought maybe I will get in there and at least try to stop the rust.
I suppose at the very least some WD-40 spray on them. |

I think you will find the windows are same - You will need the glass + channel. |
I have a set of manual 123 windows that look like that, I'm going to set them in a tub of rust away and see what happens... I got nothing to loose right?

It is a shame to have to buy a new/used piece of door glass. as Roy said and I have learned from taking these apart, the metal part is part of the glass put on at the factory. the glass and the metal channel are not each replaceable.
I replaced a L/F door glass in a 82 240D. was in the door to replace the door check, and noticed the metal channel swelled up with rust. so replaced the glass from a parts door I have. the rust had swelled up the metal, I thought I was going to have to break the glass to get it out. the glass has to come out at a angle as you lift it out. A PNP complete door is around $60, door glass $40 +. Buy the door. Charlie |
careful at the door... some PNP's will charge you for the door, the regulator, the window, and the switches and panels...

Yeah the prices can vary between yards, depending how the DA behind the counter interperates what he/she is looking at.
I had a Oil Filter housing assy from a 617, she said it was a Oil Pump. one person will nickle and dime you of ea little thing, and another will just blow it off. Here is the price of a complete door, and what ea indivual part would cost. You can see why Item# 120 is a good deal. 225-1Door Arm RestCar$7.49 120Door Assy. Well there is a 300D near here with rust free doors and 3 of the regulators. I'm going to head out there this weekend and see if I can grab them out of the doors. Unfortunately this is an LKQ yard and they nickle and dime you for every little thing. I learned my less pulling a manual 4 speed out of a 280E Euro there. By the time they counted everything I paid close to $450

Opened up rear driver's side door while looking for an electrical short. Found that door has rusted deformed channel much like the one I pictured upthread.
Luckily I have a spare but rusted door that has good glass/channel. I thought I had found and repaired ALL the rust on this car! |
