300TD HVAC...issue?

I have an '85 300TD, and...well, I lost my favorite flashlight down this hole:

Question is: Do I have any hope of getting it back? What would be involved in taking everything apart enough to do that, if it's even possible?

Thanks!

-Rog

you can take the side panel off, and then disconnect the plastic vent from the duct and hope the light didn't roll into the duct that goes under the seats... if it did, you'll need to pull the seat to get it out...

Hey thanks, that doesn't sound too bad. Removing the seat would be okay since I do need to stiffen it up a bit.

It's just hard to tell what all needs to be removed. I'm used to having a Bentley manual for my other cars, but it looks like they never made one for these?

Removing the seat isn`t really very difficult.
On the side of the rear hump, pop off the black cover. remove the 10mm bolt.
There are two 10mm bolts that mount the seat to at the front.
There are two 10mm bolts that mount the seat at the rear of the seat track.
There might be the wire/plug under the seat for the seat belt buzzer.

You will have to move the seat forward/back to expose the bolts, and you
might have to use the side lever for the elevation, seems like I had to use it
to expose the rear bolts.

Sorry, I meant that it wasn't clear just by looking as to what to remove to get to the vent system. I've removed the seat before...

Mercedes made most things easy to get to, but they also did a good job of hiding how things attach.

I believe you have to loosen the console to get that side panel off without damage. There are little clips that hold the carpeted piece to the console and dash. The stuff the capet is glued to isn't very strong.

You'll also have to remove the kick panel under the steering column.

Great, I will have to tackle that the next time it's halfway decent outside.

It would be funny if it's still shining...
