Post Coolent indications

I have had a wierd problem as of late. I get a low coolent level indication, but the level is always full. The indicator always comes on above 60 mph, and goes back off around 45 mph. Is it possible that there is a bubble in the system. I have replaced water pump and radiator in the last year.

My 87 SDL was doing that the last couple weeks. Coolant level was dropping all the time, but at first the light would only come on when at highway speeds, then go off when I slowed down. Turned out I had a cracked head, but I don't know to what extent that was influencing the warning light issue.
