What controls sweep of wipers?

My wipers go a little too far and I didn't see an obvious adjustment on the car or in the FSM. How are wipers adjusted?

your blades are likely too long.

you need to remove the wipers from the shaft, then reposition them so that they don't swing too far. this will make them park lower though...

Where do they stop when "parked"? should be down below the hoodline near the seal at the base of the window, if not, they need to be removed and re-installed in the correct position.

Consider too that the wiper mechanism may have worn bushings, giving the arms more "play".

I would think anything worn would give less swing, not more though..

They park fine but hit at the extreme outside. I could buy shorter blades. The ones on there are 21" whic is what AutoZoo showed in their database. Some vehicles have a limiting mechanism that can be adjusted.

Another Q: Is the intermittent operation on the board in the motor or in the switch on the column? All positions work except intermittent. I have both an extra switch and motor and am wondering which to change 1st.

Just a few comments about this problem.
First, the question about the intermittent. It is controlled by the wiper relay.
As for the wiper adjustment, the usual problem is the right wiper hitting the A pillar. It can be adjustment or worn parts. If the arm and links are worn, the momentum of the wiper blade and arm will make it travel further then it should. This usually only happens when the windshield is wet, but not when it is dry. I found a fix years ago. I just removed the right wiper arm and blade. You only loose about 2 or 3 inches of wiped area on the right side. Not enough to make the wife upset. I latter replaced the wiper assembly with one from a later model with less miles and not worn out but never put the right blade back on. After all, a lot of Mercedes only have one wiper. It also cuts the cost of wiper replacement in half. Mine has been this way for about 10 years. Never failed an inspection. Less wiper noise. This is a win, win, win, win fix.

Ok, let me have it, I'm ready

Paul
