1998 W210 E300D Window problem
 

Hello, my windows go down fine, however it takes about 50 clicks to make the windows go up, 1 cm at a click. Can you please help.

Have you disconnected your battery recently? Sounds like you need to reset your window switches. Here's how:
-Push the window switch down halfway. Meaning, don't let the switch click in the down position.
-Hold the switch in this position until the window rolls up all the way to the top.
-Keep holding the switch (should be about 3 seconds) until you hear a little "click".
-This will reset your automatic window control.

that's how i fixed mine when first time disconnected the battery.

Just guessing but are there torque sensors in the window motors? Maybe the window is too difficult to move and the motors are stopping because the torque sensor thinks the window is running into something like a finger... :)

Try tugging upward on the window while pressing the UP button. If it moves without stopping, you might be onto it.

Thanks for your input. I love this E300D Turbo however I miss the simplicity of my many former W123's 240/300CD's.

That's great! The reset procedure can fix a variety of ills. There's a different process for the windows, the sun roof and the seats.

I replaced the alternator yesterday, and the windows did not work properly today. A quick search led me here and now the windows work great! I am sure if I took the car to the dealer, they would charge me big bucks to fix the windows! That is why I love this site. There is so much FREE knowledge and advice here that us poor folks can afford a Mercedes Benz. Thank you PeachParts community!
