Brought home another car

Just bought this beauty from fellow forum member rs899 to replace my girlfriends wonderfully engineered Chevy Malibu (that was sarcasm)

Anyways, I'll give more details later as I am making a list of parts I need to order today.

it's a 1983 300D Turbo with around 238k on the clock and its red on parchment interior.Runs nicely, better than my old 300D I had.

That's cute.. I like the red. If you could get it to blow ice cold a/c in the FL heat I would be sold.

No records really but I trust ricks word on what he replaced.

The front seats seem to be stuck and I cannot adjust them.

I just replaced the hazard switch since the original had failed. I need to get a new center console wood or redo the piece that is there but the plastic tab is broken

I will make a list shortly of work I need to do.

But most important at the moment are the seats and get the heat working because apparently the heat does not work nor the AC. I used to have a ton of w123 parts but I sold them all off. Looks like I will be frequenting the yards more often. Hopefully one of the w126's at the yard has a nice climate control unit I can use and switches, I am getting more switches. The yard I go to just got in a 123!

I also need some of those clips for the emblems.

Thanks! I really wish I still had all of my W123 parts. I had a perfect "oel" cap in the box too... Darn it!

Tomorrow at the junk yard Im going to grab the following

interior door handles
bolts for grill
injectors (maybe as spares)
Rear view mirror
driver mirror handle
switches
14" bundt (if there)
cluster
HVAC control unit

plus anything else that grabs my eye.

The plastic tab can be replaced with plastic or nylon epoxied in place. Just make sure it isnt too long.

126 and 123 use different climate control boxes...

I think it's technically creme beige IIRC.

I didn't know about the Malibu connection. That's odd because SWMBO and I had an old Dodge that crapped out. We went looking at new cars in 2002 and almost settled on a Malibu , but bought the 300D. And that started the disease.

There's a lot of my blood sweat and tears in that car (we painted it twice, gave it all it's "shots"), but it wasn't getting used and SWMBO has moved on to an extremely reliable 380SL. And I hate automatics, so I would never drive this myself.

I STILL have 3 MB diesels left, after selling this one to Joe. Really needed to get my W116 into the garage and out of the weather. I am also itching for another car on my bucket list, like a BMW 633csi or 2002, or an Alfa Duetto, or another (non rusty this time ) Citroen.

If you can't find what you need at the Airport, there's a 240D listed at the Daytona LKQ.

Nice. I need to get the seat tracks freed up so Megan can move closer to the pedals.

I could have sworn that the ccu's in the 80's cars were all the same.

I don't think so. They have distinct 126 and 123 part number prefixes, but I have no idea what the differences are.

Anyone know?
