Wink Saw this recently...

Saw this interior on a Euro 79 and the local yard. I thought the plaid green interior was cool! Too bad it wasn't a W123 or I would have totally taken it all.... Almost Avacado Green. Oh those were the days....

All that manual climate control stuff would sell quickly to someone wanting to ditch their "evil servo".

I was there to swipe the shift gate for my 78 240D. I think it was like a 79 350SE. Interior was almost pristine as far as seat covers go front and back. Somebody already swiped the radio (another item I was after). If anybody needs the climate stuff I can go back and get it.

Salvage yards

Where is this yard, I'm a little south of you (Southern Pines) and there are no yards around here.

The cloth interiors I come across are pretty dirty and stained or worn bad and sun rotted. I don`t think I have seen this pattern. That interior is the same color as our Maytag Washer and Dryier.

I think to use that Manual CC, the whole under dash unit will have to be swapped over.

Looks like the steering wheel has the grain still on it, or is that the bottom side?
Iam always on the search for another good wheel.I like the ribs on the Horn pad of the early cars. 79 might have been the end of it.

Yes that is true, but still worth the effort!

It's an LKQ yard. On 70 East near Raleigh. I watch all three LKQ yards here as they seem to be the easiest lowest hassle place to get parts. If anybody know any other u-pull yards here in the Raleigh NC area let me know please!

I agree, I have one I pulled out of a W126, and there is one now in one of the SJ yards.

It would be worth the effort to also swap the 300D`s to a 240D unit too. think I have 4 of them.

Definitely. I have been driving my 240 most of the time this winter, as it has the only working climate control! Only about 2 blocks to drive before getting some heat. About a mile of driving gets nice warm air. I love the simplicity of it.

consideration

I'm considering switching the AC/Heat from ACC to Manual in the Light Ivory Henna Red car --- I know this is an ordeal, but I'm just tired of vacuum pods, electronic controls, etc.

Yeah, the W116s had some really nice Euro interiors.

I especially like the corduroy ones. I saw one in the boneyard a few years ago that I was about to grab, but it was completely dry rotted though it still looked great. Nothing beats MB tex for longevity.

That makes me want to use my other 240 as a parts donor rather than selling the whole thing. It might be worth the $ I paid for the car (has a bad engine, and is an automatic) just for the CC system.

I have a recent 240 in the yard, I'll be stripping everything out of it (rust) so the climate control is up for grabs.
I'll list it in the for sale section when I get it pulled.
