This is the worst one I've seen in quite some time. I mean, if you're going to ask $10,900 for a 29 year old car with 278,000 miles, at least have spotless floor mats!

craigslist ads are free, so you see some real flakes. The same cars eventually end up on ebay where they sell for a reasonable price. Some people don't even bother to blow off the leaves before taking photos. Makes you wonder how they maintained the car.

No, I think he really means $10,900-- he typed it twice!

Faults -- high-ish miles, no mentioned maintenance history, filthy interior, worn front seats, freakish UFO-reminicient object srewed into the side trim on the center stack, busted & rusty front license plate bracket, some swelling on the glove compartment wood trim, tired rubber trim, etc.

Oh, and managed to take a picture that makes the rear look ugly. I didn't know you could do that!

Oh, and no gold-plated trim.

Maybe the engine is platinum-coated.

The same guy lists his 450sl every summer without fail on Craigslist here for around $20k. I have now counted three years the car is there.

I can't decide whether it's just some old coot who figures he'll let the car go if someone dumb enough rolls up with the cash, or alternatively maybe a case where the wife hates the sight of the car and he appeases her each season (you can really only enjoy an SL 7-8 months of the year around here) by doing his due diligence with a for-sale ad.

Been to moon and back 40 mpg all the way. Slight paint fade due to reentry. "Neil Armstrong sat here" seat cover.
