The Two pin electrical connector

On the "Rear" of the Injection Pump is for the ELR (Computer Controlled Idle)
BUT,you can "Set" the Idle Mechanically with the set screw marked in the
pictogram.

Yes, Glow Plug relay/controller and the Starter are about all the OM602.962
needs to start.

Thank you.
Is it possible without special knowledge and tool to set the screw marked in the pictogram.

I can also get all electrical wiring in case i decide to enable ELR also.

So, just for information what engine performance do i lose without ELR.

'Have to "Set" the Idle

using a Tachometer (Which your chassis has?)
So, the Mechanically "Set" idle might be a little bit higher in RPMs than the
specifications call for [you're having to allow for Air Conditioner engagement
"Drag" on the OM602.962]
I.E. if the specs call for 650 RPM,you might have to set it at 700-725 RPM.

No Performance loss/gain.

'holding the end of the set "Screw"
(Machine Screw with a Hex at the end)
loosen the securing nut and GENTLY turn the set screw in or out
UNTIL you achieve the RPMs desired
Re-tighten the Nut

Thank you wery much.
So, it is for seting RPM of the engine.
I do not have Air Conditioner on 1986 MB 307D Campervan.

Can i ask you another question?
If i buy E290 TD (1998), will thinks become more complicated or i can set IP mechanically also?

"Out at Sea,Without a compass"

(That's me trying to advise you on the E with 290TD,We NEVER saw that engine in
a Passenger Car)

There is a 2.9 L 5 cylinder Turbo that's used in the Sprinter Vans that were exported to the USA.
[And it's similar to both the OM602.962 AND OM605.962 Blocks.]
AND knowing MB I'd assume that's the same engine...
BUT, WHEN they "Enhanced" (that's Unnecessarily Complicated, to you + me) the 2.9 with ALL the electronic tomfoolery would be
the question.

How "Crafty" are you?
People have taken OM606 turbo setups and used the I.P. from the earlier OM603 Turbo to escape all the electronics.BUT then they have to deal with the Transmission which is also Electronic.

It may be possible to use the I.P.from a 602 or a 605 on the 2.9L engine,to escape all the electronics...

Theory of Bosch VE Type Rotary Diesel Fuel Injection Pump pdf free ebook download from www.giordanobenicchi.it

I have almost decided to buy 250 td motor.
It is that it has 225 Nm of torque. So, much less than 290 td (300 Nm).

Next is if you want to continue the discussion.

And just for curiosity.

On the link above i have find attached picture.
So the problem are the inputs which are located on transmission and others which are not on engine itself.

The 602 will bolt right up to the Manual Tranny

The OM601 currently uses.
(If there's room for the longer 5 cyl block.)
[I assume you've already checked that?]
(You MAY have to provide a different Clutch.Maybe Not?)

Remember,that, chances are the 2.9 Liter 5Cyl was developed as a Truck/Lorry
engine.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________Oh,and the VE type I.P. s ARE "ROTARY" (As in V.W. Etc.,Etc.,Etc.)
NONE of the engines we're talking about uses a VE type Pump.

Ther is enought place in "z" direction (there is a version of om602.940 for van).

It worries me more "x" because of turbo.

I know that i will have to modificate air intake system, but it should be no problem.

I will tell in any case.

converting Vacuum Waste-gate to Pressure.

Wastegate actuator swap for OM602.962?

AND I don't know if EU versions of the OM602 come with silly U.S. EPA equippage
BUT if they do This is the "Fix"

EGR blocking plate kit

I have motor at home. And i have got false information about year of production. It is om602.961, so it must be older than 88.

And it has jet Pressure Waste-gate.

thank you

Date of delivery (by VIN) 05/04/1988.
The engine has the ELR-system with ECU. This is injection pump for automatic transmission (the I.P. has only the ELR solenoid). For the manual transmission IP also have the ARA solenoid.
But, I think, it is possible to install the IP without ARA system on the car with the manual transmission and it will work fine as with it.
Electrical scheme of the ELR system see in the pdf-file.

And finally, I think, is possible that engine will work fine without the ELR (with just a little bit low idle - 680 vs. 620 rpm) and the ARA.
