Weight of a W123 hood?

Anyone know the weight of a W123 hood? I need to ship one and want the figures to calculate shipping. Thanks

Ballpark estimate based on having picked one up before... 40#

Maybe that helps.. Maybe someone else can come with a more accurate number

heavy... I'd figure around 50-75 lbs when packaged for shipping.

I shipped a delorean hood by cutting pool noodles down the middle to protect the edges, getting some cheap blankets from the local goodwill and shrink wrapping the crap out of it. It made it to New Zealand without any damage. Plus it helps to put warning labels all over it to not stack and top load only.

Also, did you know, even in FL, its hard to find pool noodles in December.

Hello Neumann ...

It is 47 1/2 pounds. Shipping by Greyhound is the cheapest and best way out there. Having weighed them & shipped them. AND, in the process of making my own replica out of CF at around 6-7 pounds. So, the 47 1/2 pounds +/- 1 pounds is spot on.

Thanks Greazzer. That's exactly what I am looking for. What's the deal with your CF hood?

Any pics yet on the process and progress?

Pic's when the first proto type is done. I started off like gang busters last year 2012, getting a PERFECT hood, stripped down to the E-Coat, et cet. Mold lay up ... Then .... 9 months later ... say that like Sponge Bob ... LOL.

really? only 48lbs... having carried one, I expected it to be heavier... took two of us to place it over the hinges...

leaning and aligning is harder that I'd have thought...
