RC model airplane fuel in a diesel?

I know someone who needs to get rid of about 20 gallons of this stuff: It's a mixture of Methanol, castor oil, and Nitromethane. I'm not really into using strange fuels in my 617 , except biodiesel, but I wanted to ask the question. He says the stuff is a few years old but has been in sealed containers. I really don't think i'll use it but I am wondering if it would work what the effects would be. I've never heard of the stuff.

They do use diesel fuel in rc airplanes. RC Airplane Fuel sounds messy. I'm thinking no.

I always thought RC fuel smelled like Power Service (or visa versa)- probably be good stuff.

I'm pretty sure the Methanol will reduce centane rating. Castor oil would be OK. Nitromethane is a toss up. Why not just sell it as RC fuel?

It might work in a gas engine ( cart racing ) that has the proper carb.

Advertise it on any medium r/c flyers might see. Does not can age unless open I believe. Probably still worth depending on nitro content 20 dollar and up a gallon.

Model diesel fuel is castor oil, kerrosene, ether, plus a couple of percentage points of an ignition improver or oxidizer. The rest of the ingredients are about thirty two percent each.

I have never heard of Glow fuel having any Kerosene. Since I was a kid I was always told it wasnt much different than what they run in top fuel dragsters, Primarily methanol with +/- 10% Nitro and some castor oil. Its pretty evaporative (cold on your hands), and burns almost colorless with a light blue flame.

They do make diesel model airplane engines, but as far as I recall those use their own special fuel. I have no idea what glow fuel would do but I sure wouldnt try it. I dont think it would even mix with diesel fuel. X2 on selling it to some RC guys.

Methanol is corrosive to many metals. Many new cars have plastic gas tanks and nylon fuel lines. Main risk would be the fuel pump, injectors, and pressure regulator diaphragm. It might work well to clean fuel injectors. I wouldn't be too concerned adding 1 qt to an almost empty tank of a new gas engine, then filling up in 10 miles. To be safest, use in a lawnmower, not straight but mix 1:4 w/ gas. Might help it run in cold weather and most have plastic tanks today and simple carbs, plus not risking much value.

The part I worry about is the Methanol. I have no idea what that does to a Diesel fuel system. Either way, there should be enough oil related product to allow adding the mix to your fuel and burning it that way. To be safe, add a gallon per tank and see how that goes. Bottom line is the OM617 will pass water in the fuel and keep running but that doesn't mean the water is a good thing.

He just wants to get it out the garage. I try to get him to sell it. Not sure i'd even mix it in my lawnmower- rc motors don't have spark plugs. Thanks for the replies!

Have him post an availability note in r/c groups. It should be gone fast.

Increase your fuel mileage ! Be careful with the mix ratio.

take it to a dragstrip, would be good for anyone burning alky.

Don't use it in a diesel, at least I would not.
