The console cover 'vinyl' looks neat. Where did you get the material?

I had to go visit your original post and page one of this post to try to recall what your car started as.

A non-turbo W123 300D right? year?

Also I thought you had bought a red interior for it.
You mention having to wait for the interior dyed. Talking about parts other than seats?

The shiny valve cover etc. puts me to shame ! LOL

All in all you have put so much effort into this project, I can't wait to see the final product !

Congrats so far !

yup, 83' 240D originally with new, red leather interior. The door cards, et cet., need to be dyed. I will find the info on the vinyl wrap.

Virtually every snappy I ever saw had them on the left side ...

Please share any snappies otherwise.

Plus, the AMG crowd would have jumped all over this one a while ago ???

It has been at least a few weeks since any work was done on my car. Between lower back issues and a few discs in the neck, life sort of sucks getting old ... lol Able to turn a wrench a little today, just a very s l o w few hours ...

Got my custom double pulley made. I think I am the only person with a double belt NA 617 engine out there. LOL.

Re-did the valves again, new gasket, and fastened down the cam cover (valve cover for us Gringo's), and re-installed the linkage.

Installed the intake and exhaust manifold. Installed the alternator, custom pulley, most of the electrical, and losely installed the gooseneck as well as mod'd water pump housing. I plan on picking up 2 belts tomorrow, and mocking up the Electric water pump Monday night.

With the custom pulley and Electric Vacuum Pump, I have almost 10" full inches of space up front which is about perfect for radiator & fan, condenser & fan, and inter-cooler (for turbo engine). Oil cooler will be mounted in airway in the AMG front chin. Relocating that soon also, as well as oil filter housing. Surprised that a few hours knocked out so may odds and ends.

I think by this upcoming weekend I will have mounted (final R&D) Electric Water Pump, re-clocking the alternator, and connecting the last few wires. After that, time to focus on the remainder of the interior ... Maybe all done by end of April ? Hope the discs hold out .. lol

Turbo engine completion in sight ... NA engine is for sale for anyone interested. I need to re-contact Charlies ... he's #2 in line.

Another few steps closer to a double belt system on a OM617.912 NA engine.

Four (4) trips to Autozone, and finally got the right sized belt. LOL ... What a PITA. Two trips the other day and two today. Correct belt size is 10mm x 825mm. Autozone only had one, and it's 11.5mm thick. Went to Advance Auto to get the other, which is the "same" size but a little thicker and a hair off (at least that is my hope) or the pulley is off.

I should have paid attention to VSTECH, MB Guru Extraordinaire .... 10mm German Belts!

ContiTech 10.00mmx825.00mm keeps popping up as a Porsche Generator Belt.

Will grab two tomorrow hopefully through WorldPac or off the net ...

Once this is done, sole issue is now hooking up the accessories, EWP, EVP, et cet. Car might be cruising down the road this upcoming weekend, plus, got some R&D nozzles #315's re-grounded, engraved "025s" -- they pump another 15%+ than #315s. Not the magical #242s, but maybe the right mix for the NA engine. We'll see.

Only total of 2 V-belt driven accessories: alternator & A/C. On the turbo engine, no more V-Belts but serptentine belt system. Should free up some HP, not many but a few. Plus, I will be running 2 Serp belt systems: winter time will just be the alternator and summer is alternator and A/C. No more hassel dealing with V-Belts. EVP is very simple set-up and only using vacuum when needed (no more vacuum assisted brakes).

I found a "unique" type of alternator pulley bracket and tensioner at the JY. I say unique since I have never seen one like this on an OM617 engine. I think this one is a little more robust than the weirdo "L" shaped type of bolt, plus it's a solid piece of metal.

In any event, does anyone have any experience with this type of bracket and tensioner ?? I like it more than the more common type.

That to me does not look like original MB. Probably someone who broke the original and had access to a fab shop.

I remember having that bracket on my car just not sure if it was exactly the same or not. It looks like the adjuster bolt was modified.

My 83 and 85 300D has the exact same tensioner and I did not have it custom made.

This came out of a 79 Wagon which looked stock to me. I will try to find it on some part fiche's which are out there. Just strikes me as an improvement ... although this came out of a 79'. Funola has this type in his 83 & 85 ... so maybe it was an odd ball type ? Like I said, I have never seen one like this and I have seen a lot of W123s at the yards over the years. In any event, it works just fine from what I can tell.
