Injector shop for pop testing

Can anyone recommend a shop to pop test my injectors in the Pacific NW? Or anywhere for that fact? I have new Monark nozzles I want to put on my injectors, but I am not going to do it until I find a place to pop test them for a reasonable fee.

many thanks in advance,

Glenn

I'll pop test them for free if you pay for shipping both ways. It only takes 20 or so minutes to verify a set of injectors. I'll mark any that are suspect so you know.

Who rebuilt the injectors?

Hi all, and thanks for the info. Eaton, no one has re-built the injectors as of yet. In fact they are still in the car. I'm just trying to line up some options for when my son gets his car fixed and stops driving the Mercedes long enough for me to pull the injectors, clean them, and put on the new Monark nozzles .

I'd like to PM you when I finally get to pull them and maybe get them Pop tested

Glenn

With your phone's Google Maps set at my location., search for fuel injection. also search for diesel injection. In my area more diesel shops were found under fuel injection, but 1 was found only under diesel injection.

Sure. PM me when you are ready. I have a set of rebuilt injectors with Monark nozzles almost ready. I just have to drag out my vice and torque the halves down and test them.

As one option, building your own pop tester is not all that difficult and it opens up lots of potential options.

When I was having apparent trouble with a rough idle, I got a set of new Monarks to rebuild the injectors in my spare engine. I couldn't get them balanced using the shims I had on hand so I picked up a set of 5 injectors at the junk yard at half price day ($2.50 ea) intending to just use the shims and I pop tested them before rebuilding and they turned out to be perfect as is - popped at the right pressure with great pattern. (The rough idle turned out to be motor mounts so the originals were good too.) And the rebuilt ones with the Monark nozzles will be fine as soon as I get the right shims.

Right, a pop tester is a useful tool every IDI mechanic should have. He still needs to invest at least $150 to build a good tester. I built mine, so it is not a hard thing to do. A little costly to justify if you are only trying to test one set of injectors, though. I have not had to shim any Monark installed injectors, yet. YET. I do have shims and you can also make your own if you purchase the tools to do it.

Mine was a lot less than that... more like $50. But you are definitely right that it would only be worth it if you were going to do more than one set of injectors.

Personally I like having the tools.

Just wanted the OP to be aware of the option and be able to make a decision about what's best for him.

What, exactly, is a "Monark installed injector?"

An injector consists of several components only one of which typically wears out, and this is the nozzle as shown below. Although the entire assembly is the "injector" sometimes the nozzle is called an injector as that is what actually injects the fuel into the prechamber.

One of the more popular nozzles right now is the Monark, although nozzles made by Bosch, Bosio and others are common.

The pop pressure is controlled by the thickness of the shim and that is calculated and balanced by using the pop tester.

how much would you charge to adjust as needed for the injectors?

I meant Monark nozzle that I installed. Brain-to-fingers failure.

I just slapped a set of monarchs in this weekend. I did have ONE injector that needed to be shimmed real bad. The others were all close and it only took some very minor tweaking to get them balanced. I had great fun with the project and it yielded tremendous results.

As others have mentioned would do your nozzles gratis if they were pre-cleaned, and you paid shipping both ways.
