Question Parts for late 1970s 207d Camper

I have a late '70s 207d and am in need of some parts. At the moment, a radiator fan, fan shroud, intake hose, and muffler are topping my list. I'm sure more will come up as I use and maintain this van, so I'm interested in any good suppliers or suggestions on where/how to look.

Try Eurotruck Importers, Your source for Mercedes-Benz off-road vehicles and spare parts!

They specialize in the G-Class and Unimogs but the vans were part of the same commercial division of Mercedes where a lot of the same parts were sourced from.

I'm sure there are lots of people here who would enjoy seeing some pics of your 207d, if you're inclined to post a few sometime....

www.eurocarparts.co.uk. Patrick was the export guy the last time I talked to them which was a few years ago.

There's another guy in the Pacific NW with access to the parts microfiche for MB vans. I found him slow to respond. Europa in Santa Fe also had the microfiche at one time.

However, some of those parts are interchangeable with the 240d/616 engines so pick them up at the junkyard when you can.

Are you sure that's a 75. The van in your photo looks like a later model TN van. I thought it was the late 70's or early 80's when MB started producing the TN van.

I was right. First year for the TN/T1 van was 1977.

Thanks for the leads!

I've attached a few pictures from when I bought it about three years ago:

Is there a definitive way to tell what year it was built? I based the 1975 year on my registration paperwork. The registration must be incorrect, which is not a big surprise. When I bought it it was registered as a coupe. A quick DMV inspection confirmed that it is, indeed, a motorhome.

My inability to read German makes interpreting the earlier documentation difficult.

Somebody likely altered the registration in order to import it under the 'older than 25yrs' rule. Not sure the VIN has the date of mfg in it. Could be on the vin plate though.
4spd, 5spd or automatic?

.

Hahahaha OK thank you! This is by far the funniest thing that I have read all day today

Definetly give euro truck a call. I can already see that the rear door hinges, front door handles and the rear view mirrors are all the same as my G.

It's a 4 speed manual. There's no date on the VIN plate and as far as I can tell, the year is not encoded in the 14 digit VIN/chassis number.

At least I won't be looking for 1975 207d parts any more, which should help, since such a vehicle never existed!

If the fan clutch has only one single central bolt threaded into the water pump it is likely an 84 or 85. This bolt would not be visible but the fan clutch would have 2 very wide flats on the back side for gripping it in order to be unscrewed from the pump. The pump would have holes thru the body and shaft in order to hold it fixed when the clutch is unscrewed.

Can you post a few pictures of the cockpit? That should also help in determining the year (Paticuraly the control stock on the steering column)

Were they different throughout the life of the TN van? I thought the stalk in my 77 300d was the same as the one in my 85 TD. My 85 TN 409d and 307D had that same stalk.
