Interestingly...
It seems like there are several diesel entries planned for the U.S. market...
New and Upcoming Diesel Vehicles Personally, I'd love to get my hands on a diesel A4 avant quatrro with a 6 speed manual...if there even is such a thing. |

I'll believe it when I see it.
They've promised us new diesels before. As it says in the article, "Due to the volatile nature of the automobile industry, the information in this table is best veiwed as a forecast". And we know how accurate some forecasts can be. Personally, I'd love to see other diesel choices in the US, besides expensive German cars and huge trucks. Happy Motoring, Mark

General Motors soured the public on diesel passenger cars for many years after their notorious Cadillac/Oldsmobile models failed miserably. I can still remember when I bought my 83 F20 diesel almost everyone would question my choice. "why did you buy a diesel, aren't they unreliable?" I got sick of explaining it to the non-mechanical minded ones, to them a diesel was a diesel and they were all bad.
I have always believed the GM fiasco is the main reason diesel cars never took off in the US.

"I like to buy american when I can" ,a quote from one post on this link.It brings up a question ,if the motor and trans are opel products ,what else does GM outsource to turn this car out, A GM brand in name alone is the feel Im getting .American made is turning into window dressing ,its driven by american truckers from a ship to a dealership to a parking spot .

Look at the "new" Buick Regal. Clearly it's a late model Opel Insignia (or originally the Vauxhall Insignia) with a different badge. btw Vauxhaul is more GM UK than anything else.
