I saw that one on CL a week or two ago and I thought it was sad what someone did to it. Why would someone want to put a hood stack on a 300SD? I have seen it too many times and it is ridiculous every time.

My dad emailed me this CL ad to check out for him.

I tried to warn him about salvage title cars but he persisted. Before I had a chance to check it out on carfax I googled the VIN and found this.

You never know what pops up when you do a google search for all of craigslist.

I've copied the text for later posting, ,I think the PP word filter would blow up if I don't blot out most of the ad. When blotted, it will look like a report from area 51.. . .

And, the paper in the back window is a temp registration tag meaning the car is less than 60 days ( more like sub 20 ) away from when he bought it.

Now, that is epic poetry! I want a "boss-a$$" Mercedes "ehffin" Benz! I guess he got laid too much and he has to sell it now. That or the fact it does not drive. Must be the former... Well, it could be haunted by Jews if one chooses to follow the seller's logic.

Please... if you post in this thread... copy, and paste the info from the ad, and the pictures to this thread...

posting only the link does not add to this thread, it only makes a flash in the pan.

I'm going to start deleting link posts again...

text from the ad...

Mercedes e300 diesel parts for sale 1995 has 471k miles, engine runs. Car was hit on left passenger side. Call email or txt any time.

My question... what's a left passenger side? rear? Right hand drive car? the left side picture is useless.

What I like to know is what the person ran into. It looks fairly high up, as the bumper seems untouched and the fender is pushed down. It isn't something narrow like a high set semi trailer bumper. Just got me wondering...

I'm doubting it was the lowly pile of cinder blocks the car is sitting behind. LOL.

Some people think that anything with a 3-pointed star is worth big cash - no matter what. I suppose everyone thinks their stuff is worth more than the next guy's when it comes to selling. A lot of times, people price things for sale based on the value it has to them and not the buyer.

vstech 08-22-2014 11:05 AM

This is doosy of a listing. Not sure if I should laugh or have some compassion for this fellow. He's selling a mobile home, 300d and a boat w/o engine or transmission for 31K. So for the right buyer, maybe that wants all this, goldmine.

Buried in there is the 300D with fairly low miles, but asking 11K. Seems like he took care of it, but WOW.

Mobile Home and Mercedes Benz

Quote from ad
"Now about the car.One of the best Mercedes that MERCEDES BENZ ever put out hands down. This is the 1984 MERCEDES 300D TURBO DIESEL with only 82000 original miles. This cars original owner was a man that had a number of cars and just did not use this one much like his others. CLEAN CAR FAX. no accidents. It is so reliable and fuel efficient that it will last you another 30 years with out any problems just change the oil and fuel filters. Now what have I done to it after I found it just sitting in the garage? This work was all done in May-June- July 2014.
All fluids and filters changed,(Yes the one in the power steering as well) :)
New Battery, rotors brakes-Full tune up Valves adjusted, all vacuum lines and pumps checked and working perfectly. NO LEAKS. The Car had the wheel alignment done on 6-04-14
All Hinges, power windows properly lubed and sun roof as well. All lights on this vehicle work. (Amazing)
AC fully charged with no leaks. ICE COLD. (The whole AC system was taken out and new one put in 3 years age, yes all hoses condenser compresser.A whopping amount of money for this work.)
The Cruise control works & interment wipers work. The rear defroster works. When you open the rear door the rear light goes on only. AMAZING!
The power antenna goes up and down perfectly and the cassette tape still works perfectly. All 4 speakers work great. (yes I still have some cassettes.) :)
The power door locks and trunk, and yes the gas door work perfect. The two visor lights come on when you open to see your self in the mirror.
The car is amazing, you really feel safe in this Car. The paint is faded and could use a very good compound. Becker radio works with AM/FM Cassette. I wanted to leave it all Original.
It drives beautiful, with great acceleration, a real classic with the right color combo, just a very very rare find. Its a car that can be driven everyday with no worries."
