trying to identify bendix calipers

not sure if they are chassis 116 or 123 back or front. have 336732 stamped on one side 336733 on side where brake hose attaches.as well as number 57 stamped on seperately

quickest way to tell is look at the pins that hold the pads in.
bendix uses hairpins to hold the pins in.
ate uses pins that have grips on the back side, so the pins just protrude from the front... no hairpins in them.
also, bendix springs that hold the pads down are coiled wire, and ate uses bent plates of steel...

I don't think that is going to answer the question at hand.

I found that part number to be applicable to the front brakes on the '86-'91 (more or less) 300SDL, 300SE, 420 SEL, 560 SEC and 560 SEL.

Go to your favorite Internet Parts Store and look up the Hardware kit for the Calipers. They will have bendix and ATE (TEVIS, or TEVES) and the The Bendix kit will be differen from the ATE kit will be different just as vstech said.

On the W123 I don't remember there being any difference in the Brake Hoses meaning yo can use the Hoses on either make of Caliper.

From all indications, the OP already knows that he is referring to Bendix calipers.

I know that to indeed be the case.

Not sure this helps, but here are some images of the front bendix caliper from my 82 300CD:

You will likely have better luck finding a match on the '87 SDL.

rosenfe 02-03-2013 07:03 PM

well they definitely do not fit the 116 chassis
