lol
question should be, what kid turns down a 30 year old 60hp loud diesel powered sedan? My guess is that most do if given a choice, and the hood star has little to do with it.

Car should arrive Thursday. There wasn't ever going to be a day my wife allowed her little princess to drive an old Mercedes!! And I'm fine with that now too. This isn't going to be the MB I've paid the most for, but it certainly will be the nicest! Just hope it doesn't fall apart around me too quickly.......

Well, glad to see you posting......I think of your "golden pond" refuge often.

Daughters car. (The longtime MB hater)

2001 ML-430 (NOT an ML-430T!!)
Drives really nice. Feels more like a truck than a car. 151K miles. Has a few issues to work through, but the good dwarfs the not-so-good.
I got this ML from a forum member.
Lots to learn about this evil-gasser, including check engine light stuff. Also need to find a Navi CD that covers the southern central region.
Wish me luck. I still come to Diesel Discussion first, then migrate from here.
And thanks for the "Welcome Backs", but I never left.....

Sweet ride.

I'm hoping your daughter is starting to like Mercedes vehicles now. My oldest turns 15 in August --- 15 is the age of driving permits in TN --- Driver's License at 16.

I can't read the model, is that a 6 or an 8? we had an old 96 ML430 for a while, very nice and powerful, with decent mileage even towing a trailer.

There was one of these with 617 type miles at the local auction last week. 240,000. Ran and drove fine.

Good reason to make them drive an SD. I saw 1 in the yard - hit hard both front & back. Drivers compartment intact as demonstrated by all 4 doors opening and closing perfectly.

You won't see that when an econ0box OTMB is wasted, front OR rear. However, I don't think you need to go to an "SD" for the increased safety aspect of keeping the "drivers (*driver's) compartment intact".... The ML Class I would think would be fine too.

What did the 96 ML cost you in parts and labor time AND what were the miles, and miles on it that you owned it? I was disappointed to read of their (MLs) falling short in the reliability department, as the years passed.
