I can't believe it. I'm getting another Mercedes.....

I know, I know. I have/had sworn off German autos of any kind. I was cured by the lifted skirt and perfumed inner thigh of reliable Japanese engineering.
But it looks like another Mercedes will grace the parking area out front again.
Not gonna jinx things before I officially have it, but will follow up soon.
This is not for me of course, but for my youngest daughter who turns 16 Tuesday.
And I will add, when I have issues with it (and we know being a Mercedes I WILL have issues with it), this will not be the correct forum to post in......
What am I doing??????

ahh. so it's a gasser...
I'm sorry. get used to spark plugs and distributor gadgets...
so, she's 16, and she's getting a MB... My gut says it'll be an E class, likely a E320... but I don't know your family, so maybe a CLK?
My daughter just turned 16, and I'm setting her up with an 84 300D euro 4speed... while she fixes and learns to fix the 91 300D that has a damaged driver's fender.

we ALL KNOW it won't be a TET...

I provided 240D's and or 300D's for all my kids to drive. Safe, slow, great handling and brakes, great in a crash. Two of my kids got rear ended heavily and walked away with little or no injuries. No regrets ever on the choice.

I know whatever I give my daughter as a first car it won't be free, and it won't have over 127hp max. Maybe a 190d 2.5 N/A. An e320 is wayyy to much power for a young driver. Well, just about any gasser is.

Most gassers are quick and all, but it's really easy to adjust the throttle under the hood so that full pedal in the cabin is 1/2 throttle at the engine

Welcome Back....

Hi JimmyL

Welcome back! My oldest daughter turns 15 in August.....and I'm hoping I will have Henna Red all sorted out in time for her 16th. Somethings take time.

Be sure to post pics when it arrives in your driveway!

Maybe more like 1/3 at the engine. I've actually tried to drive my 420 as slowly as my 190d goes....and its almost impossible...it practiclly accelerates faster idling.

I would give her the Acura to drive, why wreck a good MB?
You know kids.

My 11 yr old son gets the (an) SD when he learns to drive or at least gets his license. He can opt for something different with my approval if he earns the money and can write a check.

My main objective it to get him through his stupid years safely. Be good to your children. They are likely to choose your nursing home.

Don't you mean the sensible shoes and good housecleaning/cooking abilities of reliable Japanese engineering??

I tried talking my daughter into driving one of my 240D's. She say emphatically NO. She wants a Civic. I was like Seriously? What kid turns down a free Mercedes! Unlike myself who could never get my dad to work on cars with me my son wants no part of it would rather play video games and watch anime. This makes NC_Diesel a SAD panda. What is wrong with kids these days!

Now THAT made me laugh!!!!

Daw, I never left!! Just didn't have much to post about except another oil change, or time for brakes or tires.

Car should arrive Thursday. There wasn't ever going to be a day my wife allowed her little princess to drive an old Mercedes!! And I'm fine with that now too. This isn't going to be the MB I've paid the most for, but it certainly will be the nicest! Just hope it doesn't fall apart around me too quickly.......

Simple answer to that is "Have fun saving to buy one then."
