91 602 head crack 200K - can I get another 200 out of the bottome end ??

Hello,

91 602 cylinder head crack failure at 201K , is this something to expect in terms of the aluminum head and mileage. Can I reasonably expect to get another 200K out of the bottom end if I purchase a new cylinder head ?

If you are positive the 200k on the odometer is an accurate statement of the engines total milage. Then used reasonably in the past and future 150k more or greater should be possible on the lower end I would think.

What condition is the timing chain in stretch wise? Chain guides? Burning any signifigant base oil yet? Factory honing still visable on the cylinder walls?

Positive on the miles - records back to new - i am the second owner.

Timing I did at 174K - Guides ill check as best I can see them
base oil useage is not significant
Factory honing I will have to check carefully as I clean the block surface

thankyou

Do you know if it has ever been overheated? I would imagine the lower end is fine assuming you caught the head breach early. Water in the oil is bad news for the bearings

602 cracked head is unusual. How did you determine it was cracked?

As long as there was not any significant water in the oil for any extended period I would imagine the bottom end will be fine and last a very long time yet.
