value of 2nd engine shock
my 617 swap has only the driver's side engine shock because (i think) this 240D chassis lacks the bracket for the second. i wouldn't describe my idle as rough, but it's still surprising to me how much the cabin shakes back and forth when i'm at a stop. presumably i need to learn to embrace the shaking as a natural part of driving a diesel, but how much would welding a little bracket on to accomodate that other shock absorber change this?

You might be able to just replace the aluminum engine mount, I think that is where the shock attaches to. I should have one on ebay.

so I have only 1 on passengers side. in general, engine shock has nothing to do with idle shakes, only with start and shut down yank ease... . |
Is this a straight diesel or a turbodiesel?
If the latter, the issue of rack damper bolt adjustment and/or upgrade, possibly with some idle speed tweaking, comes into play if you feel bodyshell swaying at idle. |
hmm, so perhaps it would not help much. thanks all. i will look into the rack damper bolt.
