Interesting result of modifying wastegate
I have made a boost controller that gives me about 13.5-14 psi max boost, (up from 9 stock). I don't really want to run it above 12 psi more that a few moments and don't
The other day was cruising at 65 mph at 6 psi. I climbed a hill and brought the boost to 12. I was able to maintain 65 but not higher mph. I guess if my boost controller would be bleeding the boost I could give it more fuel and that although I would have more power I would have a richer, less fuel efficient system. As I got closer to a big city I was running 70 and a similar hill let me maintain speed at 10 psi. I imagine that I am am getting better engine efficiency at 70 rather than 65 but that aero losses are higher than the efficiency that is gained. My last fill with 60-65 mph cruising and some 5 mile commutes yielded 30.3 mpg. I accelerate like a turtle and get it in to top gear as quick as possible. |
Hmm
Interesting.
