It is going to be interesting to see how the Dodge 1500 pickup with the diesel is going to do.

My old 6.9 IDI would get 12-13 in town and 18 highway (75). My 02 Superduty crew can LWB 4X4 got 19 regularly when empty on the highway, with 265s. Went to 285s for off roading, dropped the highway MPG to 16. Of course I keep it between 79-81 on the highway. My camper shell actually helped a bit.

I have never owned a diesel truck.
Once we drove an 89 dodge/cummins 5 speed, 2wd with a topper, out to New Jersey from the midwest and back over a weekend. Ran about 70-75 and averaged 20 mpg over the trip.
