Replaced glow plugs, clicking noise...

Now that i've received the Bosch 80035 pen style glow plugs and converted my 1978 300D to pen style glow plugs with parallel wiring, it starts like a champ, but after i took it for a test ride (about 10 miles) i stopped at a traffic light, and after a few seconds, i've heard a loud metallic clicking sound from the engine.
After i took off to stop in the next parking lot, the noise went away, it came back after a while and after a minute or so it went away again.
Now there is NO noise anymore ????

Could it be that some of the carbon build up fell into the combustion chamber ?

(i did not ream out the holes, my bad, i know...)

Hmm

Inspect the usual suspects:
* Contaminated or low cetane fuel = injector noise, nailing, rattling.
* Low oil = knocking - rattling.
* Belts = squealing, slapping, knocking - rattling.
* Alternator = squealing, scraping, grinding, knocking - rattling.
* Fan/shroud = scraping, grinding, knocking - rattling.
* Engine mounts = scraping, grinding, knocking - rattling.

Depending on they type of Air Filter Housing you have the Rubber Mounts can be broken, Nuts missing from them or the Bracket can be cracked.

When I first bought My Car mine intermittently vibrated to the extent I though something was going to break loose. But, I don't know what type of Air Filter Housing your 78 has.
